Toni's Intro

My two favorite parts of finishing a novel is to think about what I have learned from it and how it has effected me.

Hmmm where to begin....obviously I've loved reading since I was a little girl.  I read every book I owned to every doll I owned - there are pictures - it's hilarious.  My fondest memory growing up was reading and rereading "Charlotte's Web" over and over, the second I was finished I would start reading it again.  My childhood was what you see in movies; nothing short of perfect.  Of course when I turned nine my life got a little chaotic.  After my parents divorce we left the quiet little town in Connecticut for a city in Florida, lets just say I became a confused adolescent at that point.

Reading was an escape for me.
Reading was my constant.
Everything was changing, everything was confusing.  I latched on to books because of the alternate worlds they offered me.

The older I got the more my love for literature became something different.  Most women love buying clothes, purses, shoes....I love buying books.  Used book stores are my new favorite places to frequent.  I enjoy a large spectrum of types of novels.  I enjoy reading about different cultures, about people who have been through hardships in their life, memoirs, classics, and some from the best seller lists.  Authors I have grown to love and gravitate towards are: Sherman AlexieLouise ErdrichMitch AlbomSue Monk KiddAmy TanPaolo CoelhoJack KerouacMaya AngelouZora Neale HurstonRichard Wright, and so on because this is an ongoing list.

This blog is an outlet for me to reflect and review novels that I have read.  Feel free to comment and add your opinions :)
