Other than some of the books you already listed, two more of my favorites are "Have a Little Faith" by Mitch Albom, fantastic and also "Sundays At Tiffany's" by James Patterson. The end made me think of my Toni.
ReplyDeleteHow can I choose? I love The Catcher in the Rye, of course. Adolescent classic. Nine Stories is an intriguing collection of short stories by Salinger if you like his style.
ReplyDeleteThe Bell Jar is a great novel illustrating pressures faced by, and expectations of, women. LOVE IT. Another feminist novel, The Handmaid's Tale, by Maragaret Atwood.
Love your blog!!!

I am reading Twilight by Stephenie Meyers. Before that I read Confessions of A Shopaholic by Sophie Kinsella. My favorite book right now is Twilight. I saw the movie before beginning to read the book. I started reading the book to see what the hype was all about. Suprisingly interesting, like it better than the movie. I like how Meyers writes in first person narrative through Bella's eyes, it makes draws you in and makes you wonder what will happen next. I liked the book Confessions Of A Shopaholic but thought some parts were slow and rather boring. The movie adaptation of it nearly put me to sleep but seeing Hugh Dancy in it was a treat. Nice to look at. LoL. Have any of you read the second book of the Confessions Of A Shopaholic series and if so what would you rate it? D.L.
ReplyDeleteI am reading Portrait of a Lady by Henry James. It is a fascinating exploration into the development of the young American woman's psyche during a time (The Victorian age) when American women started being recognized by the developed world as independent, free-thinkers. However, underneath the surface are complex contradictions....
ReplyDeleteMy favorite book right now has to be The Beautiful and Damned by F. Scott Fitzgerald. The language and construction is breathtaking and the story is compelling. In so many ways, though Fitzgerald may have been writing about his generation, it is so relevant to mine (Gen Y).
